Brighten up your day with Sunbeam Sunflowers!

posted on January 31st, 2011 by Kristin Lares

The Sunbeam Sunflower has a uniquely bright center which starts out bright green and turns yellow as the flower matures. They are grown for us by the world’s largest ornamental sunflower company, Dos Gringos in Vista, California. They are cut and shipped to our stores weekly. Did you know that this Sunbeam sunflower variety is pollen free? This means it won’t stain your tablecloth, clothes, or counter tops. Sunbeams are one of the longest lasting varieties; about 9 full days for your enjoyment. Our great everyday price of $3.99 allows anyone to bring a smile to someone’s face or to even cheer themselves up. Sunbeam Sunflowers is our exciting ad item for this week through February 1st selling 2 bunches for $6.00. Pick them up while the sale lasts! Read More

Interview with a Wine Expert

posted on January 28th, 2011 by Bristol Farms

It seems our own Michael Cristillo, Corporate Wine Buyer, is a popular man these days. He was approached to participate in two published interviews this month that highlight his love for wine and buying expertise. The interviews were taken by a Los Angeles based blogging service, Globetrotter Diaries (who also have a passion for cultured wine and foods), and by Rancho Palos Verdes Patch, a community-specific news and information platform. We invite you to read the interviews to learn a little about Michael, his knowledge, and travels of everything wine related; the backbone to our wonderful wine arbors within our stores. Tulips all year long; summer, winter, spring and fall!

posted on January 25th, 2011 by Kristin Lares

I can guarantee that no matter what the season is you will find locally, sustainably grown tulips at Bristol Farms. It is always great to see spring bulbs being sold in the middle of winter. Sun Valley grows these winter tulips from the Southern hemisphere where the season is opposite from ours, tricking these flowers to bloom all year long.  It is amazing to see this process but it is even more amazing to see them in our stores all year long. The tulips come in assorted colors. In the fall you will find our favorite autumn colors such as bright orange, bright yellow, and deep purple. At Christmas time you will be able to purchase bi-colors in a beautiful cherry red and snowy white mix. The color mix and variety during the spring time will blow you away! Stop in to any Bristol Farms and take home a bunch or two today. Alice Grazziani-Hosepian Director Bristol Gardens [gallery link="file" orderby="title"] Read More

posted on January 19th, 2011 by Kristin Lares

These blooming branches have got to be one of my favorite flowers. They are delicate, stunning, and simply dramatic when displayed in a vase. If you haven’t experienced them, I suggest you bring some home this year. They are grown in Portland, Oregon and will be shipped to Bristol Farms on a weekly basis. Varieties will vary from week to week as the season progresses. We will feature blossoms of Plum, Cherry, Almond, Apple, and Forsythia. The Forsythia blossom has bright yellow blooms and will be available earliest in season from January through mid-March.  The Cherry blossom, which comes in an array of soft pinks, will be available through mid-March as well. Almond and Apple blossoms will trickle in as they become available. They are simply beautiful to look at everyday! Price ranges from $14.99 to $19.99 per bunch.
