Cru Vin Dogs – The Loyal Companion
posted on June 15th, 2012 by Michael Cristillo
The Loyal Companion wine series, created by the animal friendly Cru Vin Dogs Wine company, is dedicated to helping animal shelters and rescue groups find homes for our devoted and faithful friends. We first brought in their wines and promoted them on our May Gazette, as a tie in to that month’s “Be Kind to Animals Week.” Proceeds from the sales, 50 cents per bottle, are allocated directly to local shelters in the Los Angeles region. Just this beginning salvo to help our canine friends in need has generated $336.00…and counting. Since we have such a good thing going here with this noble cause, we have decided to continue the “dog” run on the Loyal Companion series of wines, and match last month’s special pricing, $12.99 (vs. regular $14.99). This is a win-win situation where the consumer can enjoy Sonoma County wines at a great price and help fund our local shelters. How about a great round of “a-paws” for everyone.
Loyal Companion Sonoma Chardonnay
Their eco-passionate winemaker, Tony Wasowicz, has sourced grapes from prestigious, cool climate vineyards in Sonoma County. Aromas of honey, nutmeg and ginger, with flavors of mango and citrus abound. A white Burgundian-style wine with crisp minerality and a lush finish. This will match beautifully with poultry and seafood dishes, especially off the grill, as well as shell fish and cheeses such as goat and brie.
Loyal Companion Sonoma Red Blend
The blend of Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec and Zinfandel was culled from small lots sourced from selected vineyards – in this case, exceptional hillside vineyards in Sonoma County. Aromas of plum, blackberry and violets are accentuated with the rich, dense fruit flavors of black raspberry, cassis and black cherry spice. With BBQ and grilling season in full form, pair this unctuous red with your grilled meats and veggies, meatloaf and hearty cheeses.
