Support Our Local Fisheries!

We love seafood at Bristol Farms and it gives us great pleasure to know when our products come in fresh and sustainably caught from local fisheries. This weekend, we will be featuring the following selection of fresh, locally caught fish at outstanding prices! Be sure to visit our stores and enjoy our “Catch of the Day” special pricing this Friday – Sunday only. Speak with our Fishmongers for their recommendations on the best preparations, or try some of my favorite preparations below:
Black Cod (Sablefish) fillet, sustainably pot caught out of Morro Bay. This fish is moist and flakey and is great marinated in Sioux-z-Wow (also a California company) and baked or broiled.
California Halibut is one of the best all around, cook it anyway you like it, fish available. My favorite is fried panko halibut strip fish tacos topped with shredded cabbage, cheese, tartar sauce and extra horseradish.
California White Seabass has to be my favorite at the sushi bar. The season just opened and these fish are pristine. “Suzuki” will often be served with finely chopped green onions and Ponzu sauce.
And finally, California King Salmon. I hear these fish coming in this weekend are large and beautiful and all caught by the vessel “Princess” owned and operated by Heather Sears. Heather Sears comes from a family that has fished California waters for many generations. As told by one of our suppliers, “We buy fish from Heather because she takes extra care of all fish she lands”.
