With football season heating up, the weather cooling and fall settling in, it is an ideal time to change gears and acquaint yourself with some of the finer craft beers available. The beer culture has grown leaps and bounds over the last few decades, and what once was dominated by a few big brewers has been liberated by a myriad of crafty, adventurous and successful artisan brewers. The range of flavors is as dynamic as the personalities that savor them, from wheat beers, to sours, pales, India pales, stouts and porters, there is a beer for every taste, dish and season. The night of October 31st is full of celebrations and sometime fear for it’s Halloween; a holiday that combines what's left of the traditional harvest festival celebration. The new shrimp season has begun and Mexico’s top shrimp boats are starting to pick out the best shrimp exclusively for Bristol Farms.  Bristol Farms wild caught shrimp are always free of chemicals, antibiotics, and preservatives, and are considered to be the finest shrimp in the world.   This species, Penaeus Vannamei, comes from the nutrient rich waters of the Sea of Cortez and the Pacific Ocean. The Triple Crown of Meat

While Miguel Cabrera and the entire Mid West Region of the United States wait to find out if the Detroit Tigers baseball star will win the eluted “Triple Crown” of major league accolades, we out here on the West Coast have something that they simply do not have. Ok, maybe it’s not quite on the same scale as an award that has not been given since before I was born, but did you know that beef Tri Tip Roasts are not readily available in the rest of the country.  In fact, if you were to travel any to those regions, very few butchers have ever even heard of this particular cut. The Tri Tip is a highly marbled cut that can be roasted whole, bar-b-qued whole, or cut into steaks and grilled.  Either way you choose, this cut will cook off extremely well because of the extreme amount of marble content within the meat.  Believe it or not, there are only approximately 5 pounds of Tri Tip produced within each animal!  Not a whole lot considering the average steer weights 1,300… Read More

Francis Coppola Votre Sante Chardonnay

Opening Scene: Francis Ford Coppola’s paternal grandmother, Maria Zasa, was born in Tunisia, a French territory at that time. He would fondly recall the French songs she would sing, and also her toast when about to sip a glass of wine, “À votre santé”, meaning ‘to your health’. In Maria Zasa's honor, and to pay tribute to family traditions, Coppola winery created a Chardonnay appropriately called, Votre Sante. 2nd Act: This white wine offers a lovely balance between the delicate perfume of peaches, lemons, and spiced pears along with luscious flavors of apples, pineapple, and toasted vanilla on the clean finish. Half of the fruit was fermented in stainless steel, the remaining half aged in French oak barrels.
