Lucky Shamrocks for St. Patrick's Day

posted on March 17th, 2016 by Kristin Lares

Happy St. Patrick’s Day! Today is the one day everyone wishes they were a bit Irish, wouldn’t you say? As many of you will be rushing out to get your corned beef dinners, Irish soda bread, and Irish ales, don’t forget to pick up a lucky Shamrock plant!

The shamrock leaf is the most iconic and recognized symbol of the holiday, and it has such a deep history dating back into the 5th century. Our shamrock plants are loaded with this iconic leaf and are sure to bring you some luck. Enjoy one of these plants for yourself or as a gift for family and friends.

Shamrocks (also known as Oxalis) surprisingly fall under the bulb category. I’ll bet you multiple pots of gold you didn’t know that! There are over 500 varieties of shamrocks, but they are all available for a short period of time each year. For a limited time, you can support our local growers and capture the Irish spirit with our 4” or 6” live potted shamrocks.

Shamrocks are a great indoor or work space plant because they require very little direct sunlight and moderate water. Direct sunlight will result in burn and prevent them from producing their cute little white flowers.

With proper care, they live well so you can enjoy this sacred plant way beyond March 17th. We wish you a safe and joyful St. Patrick’s day!
