Your New Year’s Eve Party Guide

posted on December 27th, 2017 by Leslie Thomas

Whoa, that happened fast! 2018 is just upon us, can you believe it? Time to pack away all of the holiday decor, eat through the rest of the delicious leftovers, and of course, formulate a game plan for New Year’s Eve. Whether you’re throwing your own party or you’ve been invited to a friend’s or family member’s shindig, you’ll most likely be picking up some champagne, snacks, and/or party decor.

Here is your guide to all things New Year’s Eve!

Bubbles, lots and lots of Bubbles

Oh, do we have you covered with endless varieties of sparkling wine and champagne. From Brut to Roses to everything in between, you can pick your absolute favorite variety. And since we want you to really just choose the very best and not worry about price, many of our most-loved varietals are on sale this week too!

Oysters For Those Bubbles

What hors d’oeuvre goes better with champagne than fresh shucked, raw oysters with a side of lemon and mignonette? We can’t think of a better pairing. Pick from sweet and slightly briny Western oysters that have a delightful cucumber finish or the Eastern variety, which while generally smaller, offer even  more wonderfully briny appeal.

Artisan + Exotic Cheeses, Charcuterie, and Fruit Spreads

We can’t think of a better way to feed your New Year’s Eve party guests than with a giant cheese and charcuterie board. We have a huge variety of hard-to-find imported cheeses as well as seasonal cheese balls on sale. You can also find prosciutto, mortadella, liver mousse, and salami of all kinds to pair with your favorite cheeses. Finish off the board with briny olives, a sweet fig jam, and some crackers, crostini, or mini naan dippers – all sold in our cheese and deli department. Get our How to: Holiday Charcuterie Guide here to help with pairings and plating.

Sushi + Shrimp Cocktail Platters

If you’re throwing a party this year and you want only the very best, our freshly handmade sushi platters are serious crowd pleasers! In fact, we’ve put one of our most-loved sushi platters on sale this week – the Kamikaze + Poke Platter is loaded with perfectly rolled specialty sushi and a mound of our ahi tuna poke.

Caviar For a Fancy Affair

Some of us like a good excuse to be fancy with food. And what better excuse than New Year’s Eve? We have some seriously decadent caviar selections available for you too. Best paired with premium ice-cold Russian vodka (we have that too!) or champagne, we like caviar served straight out of a small cocktail spoon. But for the faint of heart, it’s quite tasty served on blinis with whipped sour cream. Here’s a helpful guide for picking caviar if this is your first go at the sometimes intimidating fancy fish eggs.

Party Decor

Whether you’re looking for glassware, fancy serving plates, or just some fun and festive paper ware, we have you covered. Check out our gorgeous stemware from Riedel, party hats + horns from Meri Meri, and tableware, confetti, and streamers from Design Design. For a fancy cocktail affair or a casual party with close family and friends, you will find all of the party supplies you need in our housewares department.

Sweet Endings

Because no party is a party without some sweet treats, check out some of our seasonal and artisanal bakery items that scream, New Years Eve. Cake pops, chocolate flourless cakes, beautiful fruit tarts, and French Macarons are just a few of the bakery treats we have that are perfect for any kind of party!
