Wine Thursday: Hook or Crook Lodi Cabernet Sauvignon
posted on January 11th, 2018 by Leslie Thomas
The nose offers a bouquet of toasted cedar, black cherries and hints of orange blossom honey. This full-bodied wine has loads of sweet blackberry and black cherry flavors, with generous hints of vanilla, dark chocolate and oak spice that adds complexity and sweetness There is plenty of acidity that adds backbone and length to the finish.
Owned and operated by third generation wine grape growers, Thomas Michael Stokes and Allen Lombardi, there is a family tradition of growing exceptional wine grapes that began with their grandfather, Bill Stokes, Sr.. It was he who established a firm tradition, having planted his first 45 acres of Zinfandel near Lodi in 1954, that has been passed down for generations. Due to the quality and prestige of their fruit, the Stokes family supplies grapes to several of California’s best-known wineries.
