Bristol Farms Catering presents: Passover

by Melinda Race, Director of Catering & Cafe
Wednesday, April 4th, 2012

Passover is fast approaching, and Bristol Farms Catering has been working really hard to design the perfect Seder for all of our Jewish families and friends. We talked with our customers and with our in-house Jewish food experts, and came up with a variety of fresh spring selections.

Whether you are a large group joining together with your Haggadah readings or an intimate family, perhaps of three generations, asking and answering The Four Questions, you will be pleased to have our Catering Department design your dinners. Are you planning the first two traditional nights of Pesach, Friday, April 6 or Saturday, April 7, or later in the week, in order to gather your  entire family? No problem. Our Catering Teams will have your dinner prepared, ready to be picked up, hot or cold, or possibly delivered to your home – with advance reservation.

We are offering entrees that will make your Buba proud – like beef brisket, rotisserie chicken, poached salmon, plus an extensive list of side dishes to complement your entrees. Our new 2012 Passover Menu includes our traditional favorites, like matzo ball soup, carrot matzo kugel, carrot tzimmes, spring asparagus with a touch of olive oil, and two styles of latkas – yes, due to popular demand we’ve brought back these potato and vegetable delicacies from our Hanukkah Menu.  Our bakery has a remarkable flourless chocolate cake – please order in advance. And, to help you organize your K’arah (Seder plate of symbolic foods) our Catering Department will specially roast your lamb bone (Zeroa).

Telephone or visit your local Bristol Farms, or one of our Catering Specialists, at 888-726-7271, will guide you to set up and order your remarkable Passover meal.

May the spirit of this festival remain with you and your family throughout the coming year.

St. Patrick’s Day Celebration

by Melinda Race, Director of Catering & Cafe
Wednesday, March 14th, 2012

bristol farm st. patrick's day dinnerIt’s a celebration for being Irish and enjoying things Irish.

Despite all the variety in meaning this day has, they are all are driven by a unique theme: being Irish. It’s a celebration for being Irish and enjoying all things Irish. While it reminds us about St. Patrick, it also tells us to remember the Irish symbol – the shamrock.  Most importantly, it tells us to feast the Irish way, to laugh away all worries with Irish jokes, dance to the tunes of the Irish bands and to give our best shot pronouncing Irish words.  And with doing all these interesting things, St. Patrick’s Day lets us know how much fun celebrating this Irish way really is.

The early Irish immigrants brought their traditions into the United States. But it was not until 1737 that the immigrants really celebrated St. Patrick’s Day.  And it was in Boston where the Day was first celebrated in a public way. Gradually other states followed suit, with New York having the largest  St. Patrick’ s Day parade ever – held since 1762!   Meanwhile the city of Chicago has developed a unique tradition of coloring the river water green.  It started in 1962 when 100 pounds of green dye was added to the Chicago River – enough to keep it green for a week.  The tradition has continued to date…why would we want to stop now?

Personally, I have a line of Irish in my family as Frank McCormick was my great, great grandfather!  On another Irish note, I worked in an Irish Restaurant in Pasadena for many years and March 17th was the biggest day of the year.  We would have lines around the block to get into the place…people were happy as they drank green beer and ate corned beef.  I have many fond memories of this celebration.

So I say…let’s do this! Corned beef, cabbage, baby carrots, baby red potatoes, and mustard cream sauce.    YUMMMY…truly a great experience.   Feast the Irish way with Bristol Farms Catering – only $11.49 per meal.  This meal will make you dance the Irish way, talk the Irish way, and just be happy!

As we part may I say:  May your heart be light and happy!  May your smile be big and wide!  And may your pockets always have a coin or two inside!

Catering the Marconi Automotive MuseumSome of my favorite events have been held right on Industrial Drive in Tustin, California produced by the amazing Newport Beach Catering Team.  Pia Laugesen  is an exceptional Catering Manager who helps to oversee some of the most beautiful events provided by Bristol Farms along with her incredible team in Newport Beach.  Her eye for décor and design is the best in Newport Beach…whether using shells, sand, twigs, floral or more she can put together buffet tables that take my breath away….color is her specialty.

Discover the Marconi Automotive Museum in Orange County and let Bristol Farms extraordinary catering help you create a memorable event. The Museum opened in 1994 by founder Dick Marconi and houses an impressive 30 million dollar collection of historical, exotic, and classic cars.  As an added benefit, by hosting your event at the Marconi Automotive Museum, you are not only creating a memorable occasion but you are giving back to the community. The Marconi Foundation for kids donates a large percentage of the net proceeds generated from special events to local children’s charities. Bristol Farms Catering is proud to be a preferred vendor with the Marconi Automotive Museum and look forward to producing your next event!
