Summertime is grill time, and that means you need to beef up your supply of spices, marinades, grilling tools, and accessories to get the very best taste from your grilled meats and veggies. We know you'd rather spend more time entertaining friends and playing with the kids, so to make it easy for you, we've picked out some of our very favorite flavor-boosters and grilling must-haves, and they're all at great savings through Memorial Day! California Rancher BBQ Sauces, Marinades, & Rubs If you're into serious flavor, then you'll love the all-natural, locally made, gourmet seasonings and sauces from California Rancher. The Buttery Beauty of Burrata & Recipe!

posted on May 18th, 2016 by Carl Smith

Though pretty much everyone has tried mozzarella, the utter deliciousness of its cousin—Burrata Cheese—has been a bit of a secret until recently. If you haven’t tasted burrata yet, you are in for a treat; it’s a positively dreamy cheese. If you know any Italian, you might already have guessed what lies in store for you: burrata translates into "buttery.“ And this fresh Italian cheese is just that. But looking in our cheese case, you might actually confuse burrata with fresh mozzarella—the balls of cheese both look the same from the outside (and actually burrata’s outer curd is made from fresh mozzarella). Dig in, though, and the buttery goodness hidden in the center reveals itself in all its delicious glory. It’s at once mild and creamy, indulgent, and luscious. And it’s as easy as can be to serve it up: just slice some heirloom tomatoes, layer in some burrata, and add a drizzle of your favorite olive oil. Want to say hello to summer in a way that will dazzle… Read More

The Best Fruits for Grilling

posted on May 17th, 2016 by Wally Mogollon

If you enjoy a good cookout, chances are you will be firing up your grill this Memorial Day weekend. There are plenty of great seasonal foods ready for the grill, such as our wild caught buttery halibut fillets, grill-ready entrees in our meat department, as well as our own handmade, savory stuffed burger patties! But how about dessert? Let's stick with the grilling theme and try some of this season's best fresh fruit that is great when grilled! If you've never had the opportunity to try grilled fruit and you are not yet sold, let me tell you it's a wonderful thing! Grilling fruit causes the natural sugars to caramelize, creating a new smoky dimension and a dessert that is decadent, yet low-calorie, and chock-full of vitamins. If warm fruit does not sound appealing, you can always grill your fruit first before your meal and place it in the refrigerator until you are ready to enjoy it. In a simple preparation, you may top your grilled fruit with whipped cream, Mascarpone cheese… Read More

The Ultimate in Burger Cheese – Castello® Burger Blue

posted on May 20th, 2015 by Carl Smith

It's grilling season, and burgers are a must-enjoy. Nothing goes better on a burger than a slice of gooey, melted cheese, and if you're like me, then you understand my love for pairing the tang of blue cheese with burgers and steaks. Typically, blue cheese is crumbled atop your choice of meat, but now there is an even more exciting version that goes great on burgers! Conveniently sliced to the perfect size and made to melt, Castello® Burger Blue transforms any burger into an epicurean delight! The creamy and characteristically tangy notes of blue feature balanced sweet and salty undertones, lending an exquisite flavor to a savory grilled beef patty. Castello® Burger Blue turns an everyday cheeseburger into a mouthwatering explosion of incredible taste. The size is perfect – now, my burgers have just the right amount of tangy, melted blue cheese without the mess and fuss of blue cheese crumbles. It completely transforms the grilling experience! We highly recommend you give these… Read More
