Cool Down with Summer Peach Recipes

Let's face it, the warmest days of summer are here and we can all use some fresh ideas for keeping cool, especially when it comes to our favorite summer eats and drinks. While eating our favorite summer fruits straight from the hand is an easy no-heat snack, there are many other ways to enjoy your summer fruit while cooling down a couple degrees at the same time. Here are our go-to recipes for cooling down this summer with sweet peaches: Peach Iced Tea Pops Drop whole wedges of sweet peach in your favorite iced tea mix and freeze for a delicious frozen treat. In need of frozen treat molds? Visit our Housewares Department for a variety of fun shapes and sizes. Want to make some frozen treats for the kids? In place of iced tea, try fruit juice or fruit puree for a kid-friendly version. While you may be able to find peaches and other stone fruits in store year-round, you'd be hard pressed to match the delicious flavor, texture, and quality of a peach that is enjoyed during peak season. Handcrafted Peach Tarts for Summer

What’s your favorite summer memory? One of mine is sitting around munching on summer fruit at the beach or by the pool. I love cold fruit on a hot day. Summertime brings about some of the best fruit of the year; cherries, berries, mango, grapes, kiwi, and peaches. Of all the fruits available this season, peaches have to be one of the sweetest treats. The range of flavor from tart to sweet with the varying colors never ceases to amaze me. Whenever I think of peach season, I reminisce about a farm we used to visit up in Acton to pick fresh, sweet peaches. Naturally, we would go home with our peaches and have a pie baking celebration. Peach Pairs with….Cheese?

Peaches, Nectarines, Plums, and other soft fruits are in season! While they are all deliciously eaten on their own, these sweet fruits can also be paired with savory items and added to a number of recipes. One pairing we are particularly fond of is our Summer Flame peaches and a variety of cheeses, like Ricotta, Mozzarella Burrata, Bellwether Fromage Blanc, Creme Fraiche Bellwether, Saint Angel Triple Cream, and Champignon Rougette...just to name a few. Our favorite and most versatile cheese in peach pairing happens to be Ricotta! The rich and creamy texture balances nicely with the sweetness of peach. We have a few simple suggestions when pairing Ricotta and peach to kick it up a notch: add some granola, honey, nuts, or jam. Our fresh peach salsa from our Deli would also be great paired with Ricotta; the spice will be balanced out with the creamy cheese. Peach Recipes for the Summer

The 4th of July holiday may be over, but summer is just getting started. Beat the heat this summer with some delicious peach recipes that are sure to cool you down while satiating your thirst, hunger, and sweet tooth.   Summeripe White Peach Mojito Ingredients: 3 to 4 very ripe Summeripe White Peaches 1 lime, sliced into 4 wedges 2 oz white rum 1 oz simple syrup handful of fresh mint leaves splash of lemon-lime soda or sparkling water ice cubes Method: 1. Slice Summeripe White Peaches over a cocktail shaker to capture all of fruit juice. 2. Place Summeripe White Peach slices into the cocktail shaker and muddle until slices are thoroughly juiced. Set aside. 3. Place mint leaves and 1 lime wedge into a sturdy glass, use a muddler to crush mint leaves and lime wedge. 4. Strain Summeripe White Peach juice into the glass and add in simple syrup and 2 more lime wedges, muddle again to release all of the lime juice. 5. Fill the glass with ice cubes. A Canning Guide with Kilner® for Summer Fruits

In conjunction with our “Power of the Peach” promotion, we are thrilled to introduce a new canning and preserving line from the Kilner® Jar Co.  In the late 1840’s John Kilner started manufacturing the first canning jars in Dewsbury, England.  For nearly a 100 years the Kilner® family owned and operated the company.  By the late 1930’s competitive activity forced the bankruptcy of the Kilner® Jar Co. The good news for us is that even though the design of the jars have changed over the years the guiding principle that John Kilner built the business on has remained the same – the preservation of food without artificial preservatives.   Today, there are really two styles of Kilner® jars: the Cliptop, which has a glass lid and rubber seal and closed using a metal clip; and the preserve jar, which features a 2-part lid, a metal screw band, and a metal vacuum seal disc, along with a selection of critical preserving accessories.   A Guide to Jams It is a… Read More
