Wine Thursday: La Tordera Valdobbiadene Prosecco Brut

posted on August 24th, 2017 by Leslie Thomas

Okay, we have a great holiday weekend just around the corner where we can all enjoy the fruits of one’s ‘labor’. So as much as wine and craft beer sounds really tasty and will certainly be flowing, the notion of a chilled, crisp, fruity sparkler is very enticing. We found the perfect elixir, La Tordera Valdobbiadene Prosecco Brut- This fine, fruit laced bubbly offers floral notes of white flowers, pear and lemon drop, with robust flavors of apple, citrus and ripe papaya. Even though the wine is created in a Brut style, there is ample bright fruit. The other unique element to this Italian sparkler is that it is vintage dated, 2014. That is indeed a rare offering and adds to the overall appeal of this gem. The perfect foil for grilled seafood and shellfish, as well as Prosciutto, stuffed mushrooms, creamy sauces and spicy Asian entrees. Prosecco is produced in the hills of Veneto in northeastern Italy, where the winery is located, and boasts the longest history in the… Read More

Bristol Farms Private Label Bacon

posted on August 15th, 2017 by Leslie Thomas

Make it a happy morning with the heavenly flavor of good, old-fashioned bacon. It's small-batch made and contains absolutely no antibiotics or added nitrates. Pair it with your scrambled eggs, add it to your fancy grilled cheese, or carefully pour pancake batter directly over it on a fry pan for a bacon pancake that's sure to please the whole family. Have you ever baked your bacon? It alleviates the mess of a greasy fry pan and allows the bacon to keep its form while getting extra crispy. Simply line a cookie sheet with aluminum foil and place the bacon on top with 1 inch between each slice. Turn your oven on to 375 degrees and place the bacon inside. Allow to bake for 15 minutes or until it has reached your desired crispiness Read More
