Meal Prep Like a Pro in 2018

posted on January 16th, 2018 by Leslie Thomas

We get it; takeout and processed foods are just so much easier. Cooking a wholesome meal is sometimes the last thing we have time for. You’ve probably heard of meal prepping - it’s a health trend that got popular a few years ago and has stuck around - for good reason. Meal prepping makes eating healthy easy and quick, week after week. But there’s a misconception about the trend - you don’t have to eat the same thing everyday. You can absolutely mix-and-match your meals with just a few variations in sauces, toppings, and sides. That way it never gets boring and it's easier to stay on track. All is takes is some patience in the kitchen and just a couple of hours (3 hours, max if you're not much of a cook) and you've got a week's worth of healthy lunch and dinners that won't break the bank or upset your taste buds either. We suggest going through the meal prep on Sundays, when you're least likely to have work or social obligations. So go grab your favorite glass… Read More

The nose offers a bouquet of toasted cedar, black cherries and hints of orange blossom honey. This full-bodied wine has loads of sweet blackberry and black cherry flavors, with generous hints of vanilla, dark chocolate and oak spice that adds complexity and sweetness There is plenty of acidity that adds backbone and length to the finish. Owned and operated by third generation wine grape growers, Thomas Michael Stokes and Allen Lombardi, there is a family tradition of growing exceptional wine grapes that began with their grandfather, Bill Stokes, Sr.. It was he who established a firm tradition, having planted his first 45 acres of Zinfandel near Lodi in 1954, that has been passed down for generations. Healthy in 2018: 18 Quick, Easy, and Clean Lunch + Snack Ideas

posted on January 8th, 2018 by Leslie Thomas

For many of us, a new year means getting back on track in terms of health. It means saying goodbye to the holiday sweets, nixing that weekly (or ahem, daily) soda, and instead, consuming more of the really good stuff. We’re talking whole ingredients - like flavorful and fiber-rich fruits, veggies, and (healthy) grains as well as lean meats, and of course, plant-based substitutes. Eating healthy shouldn’t be bland. It shouldn’t take an eternity to whip up something flavorful either. We know you’re busy but we also know your taste buds are simply too good for celery and peanut butter (unless of course, it’s the best peanut butter you’ve ever had in your life). Here are 18 quick and easy lunches and snacks that will keep you healthy and your taste buds happy. Avocado Caprese - Simply chop up a vine-ripened tomato, ½ an avocado, and 1 ounce mozzarella cheese. Drizzle with olive oil and season with salt and pepper. Serve over arugula for a delicious salad or… Read More

2013 The Highlands Project Pinot Noir, Santa Lucia Highlands

posted on January 4th, 2018 by Leslie Thomas

2013 was a long cool growing season allowing the Pinot Noir to retain its acidity while developing deeply complex flavors. Rich with dense, expressive dark berry, spice, toasty oak with cedar and cinnamon notes. This pure Pinot shows mid-palate intensity and a long full range of deep, persistent flavors. The Tudor family began growing grapes in California early in the 1900′s and continue to operate one of the largest table grape vineyards in the country. In an increasingly mechanized world, there are still a few handcrafted products that stand out. Fine wine is one of them. At Tudor Wines, they select fruit from family-owned vineyards and transform it into wine using traditional techniques. These include small fermentations mixed by hand and aging in French barrels. The resulting wine has a purity of expression that cannot be duplicated on a larger scale. Suggested Retail $19.99 Sale price is $9.99 Save 50%! Indulge in the Good For You: 5 Food Shopping Tips For Resolution Success

posted on January 2nd, 2018 by Leslie Thomas

For many of us, the new year means a fresh start and a clean slate. It means simplifying our lives, eating healthier, getting more active, and nixing bad habits. We’re here to help you stay on track too - from our smoothie and juice bar to an always fresh protein-packed poke bar, to our grab-and-go under 500 calorie meals that are full of the “good stuff” like quinoa and salmon, eating well doesn’t have to be boring or time-consuming. Here are 5 simple and fool-proof tips for shopping our stores the health-conscious way, in 2018. Shop the perimeter of the store You've heard this tip many times before...and with good reason. It works! Shopping only the exterior of any market forces one to buy only the freshest ingredients - like produce, seafood, and those everyday dairy necessities like milk, yogurt, and butter. This doesn't mean you can't ever walk down the middle aisles! That would be almost impossible as you still need things like spices, rice, and household items… Read More

A New Year’s Eve Spirit: Karlssons Gold Potato Vodka, 94 points Wine Enthusiast

posted on December 28th, 2017 by Leslie Thomas

A distinct counterpoint to ultra-distilled vodkas, this Swedish gem is comprised of seven new potato varietals: Solist, Gammel Svensk Röd, Princess, Sankta Thora, Hamlet, Marine and Celine. Each varietal is distilled only once through a continuous, column-still lined with copper. They are then blended without charcoal filtration, which would remove valuable flavor elements. The resulting vodka is full-bodied and rich, with a distinct viscosity and mouth-feel that is unlike other vodkas on the market today. It finishes with black pepper, ginger, and a buttery mouthfeel. Although it is designed to be served neat, on the rocks, in a martini or to send your Bloody Mary over the top, try Karlsson’s Gold with fresh cracked black pepper. And have a safe and wonderful New Year! Suggested Retail $34.99 Sale price is $14.99 Save $20! Purchase 6 or more bottles and receive an additional 10% discount! Promo valid from December 27, 2017 through February 6, 2018 All selections… Read More
