Wine for the Weekend: Torrevieja Malbec Reserva

Mendoza has become a hub of Malbec production, so how does a vintner make his rendition stand out? If you’re the winemaker for Torrevieja, you begin with only the finest grapes available, then give them the attention they deserve in the cellar. From the length of the fermentation to the selection of the oak barrels used for aging, no detail is too small when it came to making the Torrevieja Malbec Reserva. This wine’s color and appearance are a dark ruby red with elegant purple shimmers,” the Torrevieja vintner notes. “It has a velvety texture with a clear taste of black raspberry and black cherry.” Our tasting panel enthusiastically concurs.

We were blessed to be served this wonderful Melbec at a quaint little restaurant in Gloucester, mass. I liked it so much that I called them up and asked them what it was that they served us. I immediately called my nearest spirit shop and have them order me a case. The Torrevieja really went with everything we were eating that evening, it left me wanting more. Lovely, really lovely!!
