Hello, October! 5 Ways to Get into the Fall Spirit
It’s Fall, y’all! Okay, so we know it’s still hot in Southern California, which can make Fall seem well, a bit underwhelming. But even without the crisp air and colorful trees, you can still embrace the season. With Autumn candles and decor, roasted winter squash, Oktoberfest sausages and German beer, and some good old fashioned pumpkin-picking family fun at any one of our stores, we can help you get into the Fall spirit, even if it is a steamy 80-degrees outside!
1. Bring Fall Inside Your Home
Give your home the sweet and spicy smells of Autumn. We have an array of seasonal candles from Thyme, which are sure to fill your home with long-lasting Fall inspired fragrances.
Looking for some subtle scented greenery that screams Autumn time? Look no further than our beautiful selection of fresh eucalyptus. With seeded unseeded varieties, you can channel your inner Joanna Gaines and spread these stylish bouquets throughout your home for a stylish Fall look.
And if you’re more into the traditional Fall flair, we also have mini pumpkins, Indian corn, and squash galore, which can all be adorned into a cornucopia for your dining room table.
2. Roast up Autumn’s Best Produce
While we’re all about burning candles this time of year, there’s truly no better way to bring Fall indoors than with the sweet smell of roasted winter squash. From Acorn to Butternut to Delicata to Pumpkin (yes, Pumpkins are part of the squash family!), we’re boasting all the winter squash you could dream of…and then some.
Our best tip for roasting Butternut Squash? Cut in half lengthwise and remove seeds and stringy stuff. Liberally brush with extra virgin olive oil and season with salt and some brown sugar if you’d like. Feel free to top with aromatic herbs too. Roast at 375 degrees for 45 minutes, or until fork-tender.
3. Pick a Pumpkin
Because it’s not Fall unless you’ve gone to a pumpkin patch! And lucky for you, all of Bristol Farms stores have our own little patches at the storefront. Find traditional carving pumpkins, mini pumpkins and squash, and all the beautifully fun fairy tale varieties too!
4. Eat (and Drink) Like a German
In Germany, it’s Oktoberfest! Well, the big event in Munich ends on October 6th but in America, we often see people celebrating at restaurants and bars the entire month of October with beer, sausage, and pretzels aplenty!
Celebrate with our German brats and sausages, which you can find in our butcher’s meat case. Wash them down with some of our favorite German beers like Erdinger, Spaten, and Hofbräu.
5. Sip on some Seasonal Sangria
While this sweet wine and fruit drink is typically enjoyed in the Summer, it’s also quite marvelous as a Fall beverage. Perfect for a small shindig, it’s a drink that’s so easy to make-ahead and always a crowd pleaser too.
