Christine Keller of Moodify

Christine Keller wanted to help everyday people feel their best on a daily basis. Now, with her line of good mood food, we can all shake off the blues, eat healthy, and take small steps toward a positive outlook.

Moodify’s instant oatmeal cups are made with naturally uplifting ingredients for convenient clean eating. Free of gluten and GMOs, every delicious cup is designed to treat your body and mind to something special.

Recently, we caught up with Christine to learn more about her journey and hear her advice for fellow entrepreneurs.

1. Why did you start Moodify?

Over the last few years, I have experienced and witnessed the daily struggles that make up our complicated world.

Feeling the need to help in any way I could, I leaned into the proven fact that foods can have a big impact on your mood. With that in mind, we developed our brand, Moodify Food, as a platform for mood-enhancing foods. Instead of drugs and supplements, we provide people with healthy ingredients that trigger positive responses in the brain. It’s all part of a growing area of science called nutritional psychology.

We chose to launch our brand with a new spin on instant oatmeal cups. Our flavors include A Little Buzzed, Gut Feeling, Gone Bananas, It’s Nuts, and Berry Bliss. They all have simple ingredient combinations that stimulate endorphins, dopamine, and serotonin with zero cane sugar. It’s a great way to start the day and create a positive mindset through healthy brain food!

We have to start somewhere, and we believe little steps are the best way.

2. What obstacles did you face along the way?

Honestly, when you start a new food company you face obstacles every day. Early on in our journey, we dealt with an oat shortage, plus multiple economic challenges. I mean really, how can you produce instant oatmeal without oats? Ultimately, we found a creative solution that allowed us to continue. The one thing certain about our business is that there will be many more obstacles along the way.

3. What lessons do you have for other entrepreneurs?

I always advise fellow entrepreneurs to:

  • Be creative, because there are many ways to work around problems.

  • Stay focused. A lot of shiny objects that will present themselves, but not all of them are valuable.

  • Work hard — ask the tough questions and listen to the answers.

4. What’s on the horizon for Moodify?

Our goal is to reduce the stigma around mental health. If we can inspire just one person to take a second and check in with their mental state and set the intention to have a better day, we’ve done our job.

5. How do you keep work/life balance? What drives/inspires you?

Three vital things propel me forward: nourishing my body with wholesome food, engaging in energizing exercise, and nurturing my meaningful relationships. I strive to fully embrace their presence in my life.

I draw inspiration from a range of places, people, and experiences. Yet, there are times when I must consciously pursue inspiration by cutting through all the noise.
