Mushroom Gravy

Mushroom Gravy
Mushroom gravy has a strong umami flavor that makes your mouth water! Use it on everything from turkey to mashed potatoes. 


  • 8 ounces mushrooms, sliced

  • 1/4 cup butter

  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour

  • 2 cups vegetable or chicken broth

  • 1/2 cup heavy cream

  • salt and pepper to taste


  1. In a large skillet, melt the butter oven medium heat. 
  2. Add the sliced mushrooms to the skillet and sauté for 5-7 minutes, until they are browned and tender. 
  3. Sprinkle the flour over the mushrooms and stir to combine. 
  4. Cook the mushroom and flour mixture for 1-2 minutes, stirring constantly, until the mixture turns golden brown. 
  5. Slowly pour the broth into the skillet, whisking constantly, until the mixture is smooth and free of lumps. 
  6. Bring the gravy to a simmer and let it cook for 5-7 minutes until the mixture thickens. 
  7. Stir in the heavy cream and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, until the gravy is heated through. 
  8. Season the mushroom gravy with salt and pepper, to taste. 
  9. Serve the mushroom gravy warm with your Thanksgiving dinner. Enjoy!
